So, I’m enjoying the gym a bit more these days. I think I’ve finally found a groove and am having an easier time imagining being outside – climbing hills, gliding through valleys, and – of course – crossing the finish line in Copley.

It helps to cover the treadmill display. I find when it’s right in front of me, staring me in the face, the seconds seem to move at a glacier’s pace. I’ll look down and check the time and look down again after feeling like at least 5 minutes have passed, and I have to hold back from yelling, “Oh come ON!” when I realize only 47 seconds have ticked away.

Maybe I’ll try 8 miles on the treadmill next time. But the weekend is upon us (hallelujah), and you know what that means – outdoor runs!
