YESTERDAYS’S WORKOUT STATS:
Route: To Washington Street & back
Best Song: “Somebody Like You” by Keith Urban
It felt wonderful to run outside last night in leggings, a hat, and a T-SHIRT! I set out for my 4-miler with my usual fully covered body – ready for anything the rough Newton elements might throw my way (you know how gnarly the tree-lined carriage lanes and runner friendly drivers can get). As soon as I got out there, I knew it – I had to lose a layer.
Being the enormous geek I am, I practiced taking off my jacket while still running – in anticipation of needing to do such a thing on the Big Day. (You know how those precious seconds add up.) You don’t see elite runners taking a breather to re-tie their shoes or grab a Power Gel from their fanny pack or – heaven forbid – stop to remove their jacket, do you?
If you’re wondering, my endeavor was a complete failure. I won’t give you the details (I know the minutiae of last night’s run has ALREADY bored you to tears), but the undertaking did involve the near loss of my beloved Shuffle, hair pulling, and the exchange of some choice words with the sidewalk.
But after the jacket came off – oh, man, was it a great run.
